The Marquee Club - A tribute site dedicated to the history of the legendary Marquee club at London's 90 Wardour street.

The Marquee Club by Suzanne Morris-Marcus

"I visited London for the first time in 1968. I attended one day of the 3 day Sunbury Jazz and Blue Festival and still have the program! I saw Traffic and others that day. I missed Arthur Brown. It was incredible. A one day ticket for 1.50 gbp. No friend back in Canada had yet experienced the likes of Sunbury.

It was a long trip back to London that night and my friend (girl) and I were locked out of the girls 'y' in Hampstead and forced to visit the Police Station on the corner of Hampstead High Street and Thurloe Rd for refruge.

I since returned in 1971 to live in London and many times to visit. I recall seeing the Knack there in the 1980's. I still some cover pages of The Marquee and it is a collage of all the groups who have played at the Marquee. No one ever sat at the Marquee, you stood all night!

I hope to visit it this December now with my 14 year old son and hope some group of fame is playing!"
