"With reference the listing of a Deep Purple show on 9th September 1969 this is incorrect. Deep Purple NEVER played the Marquee. I have just finished researching my biography (Black Knight) on Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, and I do have a Melody Maker advert that mentions this gig but it never took place, although the reason why, I have yet to establish. Purple must be one of very few of the big names that never played the Marquee."
